To help children to gain more strength and co-ordination in their fine finger actions we are doing “Dough Disco”. It is a fun and energetic way of squeezing. rolling, pinching, flattening and poking a ball of play dough to the music being played – I am learning such great dance moves from the children!!!
The Easter Egg Roll
Children decorated theri hard boiled egg in the morning and eagerly awaited the egg roll race .
Finally the time came!!!
We went to the top of the hill in our grounds and with super underarm action rolled our eggs down.
We then decided whose egg had rolled the furthest…………….and William was declared the champion. Well.done everyone.
Problems, problems, problems!!!
The children needed to solve the problem for the Easter Bunny who had fallen down a well. He found several things in his rucksack that could help him to get out of the well – a torch, a mobile phone, a length of rope, tickets, a compass,a bell, a picnic blanket.
. Did he have help from someone else or did he manage to free himself?
The children talked with their partners to resolve the problems- as solving one problem caused a few more! The children came up with their ideas – some were very practical and some more fanciful! It certainly got our grey matter working.

The teddy bears’ picnic
The Ginger Bear group organized a picnic for all of the children in Classes 1, 2 and 3. The children made me a shopping list of the things we could eat and the games we could play after the picnic. The children helped prepare sandwiches and share out all of the other goodies to eat. – what a lot of maths came out of this activity!! They had to solve the problem of making enough sandwiches for everyone to have one. We cut the sandwiches in triangles, squares and oblongs. Oh, and your children are great at spreading the butter across the bread too!
A good time was had by all!!
World Book day
Class Two have had such a lovely day! We really enjoyed the book swap and children spent a long time carefully choosing the right book for them! After that, when we heard the bell we dropped everything and shared a book together. Just a few photos for you to enjoy .
Hello!
hey tell us that spring is here but when we were at forest school yesterday it was very very very cold and windy!! However the children didn’t seem to notice and they battled on against the wind without a comment –however, their little pink noses and cheeks told of a spring that is yet to come.
If you have been over to the Memorial Park you will probably know how muddy it is in the woods. One little boy called out for help cos “I’m stuck”Without looking carefully I said Oh come on you can do it! He said “I really can’t you know” When I looked, his wellies were sinking by the second!! I quickly braved the thick gooey mud and helped him out. “ Oh thank you, you rescued me just in time!!” I told my husband I was Superwoman but he wasn’t quite as impressed as my sinking little friend!!
First full day!
What a great day – very busy and I’m ready for my bed – but a wonderful time nevertheless.
Some children had their first forest school today. We didn’t go off site but the children are now very sure of the expectations and that they are free to follow their own investigations. Some children climbed trees, some made dens whilst others made their own “home brews”. They had great fun. Here are some photos we took today.
What a lovely day!
Our first day with our new Class 2 and Mrs Crocker and I have had such a lovely time – thanks to our amazing children. The children were really keen and were so good at picking up our routines – you would have thought they had been at school for a long time. We are looking forward to tomorrow and all the other tomorrows. I’ll try to post some photos in the next few days.
Those slugs!!!
Class 2 are \not very pleased! We grow vegetables from seed, bring them on until they are strong enough to be planted outside and THOSE rascal slugs slither over and munch on our crops!!! We think they must be the best fed slugs in the whole of Wickford.
Well our patience has grown too thin now! We have put some slug traps into the vegetable plot which do not harm any wildlife or pets. Harry has decided that he wants to build a secret hide and watch these garden pests so he knows when to empty the slug trap.
Some photos showing us getting ready!!
